It’s time for St. Martin’s Fest in Šmartno

Lovers of noble drops can hardly wait for late autumn when the must turns into wine. This is also when we can taste the young wine for the first time.
We have a special holiday to mark this occasion in Slovenia: St. Martin’s Day.
After two years, we will finally revive the traditional fest in Brda again. Together, we will pay tribute to wine – an integral part of our heritage.

When must turns into wine

November, when the hills of Brda are covered in warm, beautiful autumn colours, is the perfect time to experience the fairy tale of our landscape. This is also when must turns into wine, and when tasters, connoisseurs and lovers of local delights, especially wine, are united at the fest of St. Martin’s – “Martinovanje”. St. Martin’s Day is an old traditional holiday in Slovenia, which marks the end of work in the fields and the baptism of new wine. Each year in Brda, the St. Martin’s fest is held in the shelter of medieval walls of the village Šmartno, where a tasting of high-quality wines takes place in wine cellars of abandoned houses.

This year we will enjoy young & fresh wine, good music, a rich cultural programme and the best company on the 12th and 13th of November.
